Jonah + Aubrey’s Estes Park Wedding Day

Jonah + Aubrey’s Estes Park Wedding Day

Jonah and Aubrey got married in Estes Park with one of those ceremony views that almost doesn’t look real. Mountains directly behind them, their favorite people filling the room.

As good as the view was, I didn’t want their gallery to only be about the fact that they got married in the mountains. There was so much personality in this day. From what they wore to the portraits we created afterward, that is what made it so fun to photograph!

Getting Married in Estes Park

Their ceremony space opened straight toward the mountains, so there really wasn’t much else needed. The landscape did the work. I loved being able to step back and photograph the full scene with their guests. The wood beams overhead, Jonah and Aubrey at the end of the aisle, and the mountains out behind them. Photos like this give you a sense of what it actually felt like to be there. Not just what the ceremony looked like up close.

That is always something I am looking for on a wedding day. I want the reactions and little details, but I also want the photos that show where all of it happened.

Wedding Portraits

We obviously had to take advantage of the mountains for portraits! I also wanted to give Jonah and Aubrey something completely different. We used layers of lace as a backdrop for some of their photos, and it ended up being one of my favorite setups from the day. The light coming through the fabric was beautiful, and the lace tied back into Aubrey’s gloves in a subtle way.

This is the kind of thing I love having a little extra time for during portraits. Of course we are getting the mountain photos. You got married in Estes Park. We have to!!

Letting Estes Park Do Its Thing

One thing I really liked about this wedding was that it fit the location without making every single detail about Colorado. When you are getting married somewhere with a view this good, you really don’t need to force it.

Jonah and Aubrey’s day had the big mountain scenery, but it also had lace, a brown suit, a bolo tie, and portraits that looked completely different from one another. That mix made the gallery feel a lot more like their wedding instead of just a collection of pretty photos in Estes Park.

Planning an Estes Park Wedding

If you are planning a wedding in Estes Park, give yourself a little flexibility in your timeline.

Colorado weather and light like to do whatever they want, especially in the mountains. Having some breathing room means we can work with whatever the day gives us instead of rushing through portraits because everything has to happen at one exact minute.

It also gives us time to explore beyond the most obvious photo spot. The mountain view might be what initially makes you fall in love with your venue, but sometimes the photos you end up loving most come from a random corner with good light or something we decide to create on the spot. Jonah and Aubrey’s wedding had no shortage of beautiful scenery, but what I loved most was getting to use that scenery when it made sense and then do something completely different when it didn’t! my story continues here

For me, photography isn’t just my job. It is my passion and purpose. I’m drawn to the beauty of genuine connection, the way your head rests gently on your spouse’s shoulder, how you throw your head back and laugh as your best friend gives their speech, and the way your parents cry during your vows.

The little things. The tiny details. The things you never, ever want to forget, captured in honest, true-to-life colors that don’t just document the way things look, but the way they feel.

Chapter 03.

From slow dancing at sunset to laughing so hard your makeup starts to run, my goal is to document your wedding day in a way that feels like you.
