There are some locations that immediately make a session feel like an adventure, and the sand dunes were exactly that for Chance and Kailey’s engagement session. From the second we stepped out into the open dunes, it felt calm, quiet, and completely different from anywhere else. The soft neutral tones, the endless hills of sand, and the cloudy sky made everything feel so simple and effortless in the best way.
What I loved most about this session was how naturally Chance and Kailey fit into the environment together. Nothing felt forced. They were playful, relaxed, and completely comfortable with each other, which always makes such a difference in photos. Some couples need a little time to warm up in front of the camera, but these two made my job incredibly easy. They trusted the process, embraced the wind and the sand everywhere, and just enjoyed the experience together.
The dunes gave us so much room to explore and move around, which made every part of the session feel different. One minute we were capturing wide open landscape shots that made the location feel massive, and the next we were focused on quiet little moments between the two of them. I loved the contrast of the soft sand against their clean, simple outfits because it kept the entire gallery timeless and natural.
Engagement Shoots
One of my favorite things about engagement sessions like this is that they feel less like posing for photos and more like documenting a memory. Walking barefoot through the sand, laughing between shots, and climbing dunes together turned the session into something fun instead of something overly structured. Those are always the moments that end up becoming people’s favorite images later on.
Chance and Kailey are genuinely such an easy couple to be around. They are kind, laid back, and clearly so excited for this season of life together. You can tell they bring out a calmness in each other, and that translated so well on camera. Sessions like this remind me why I love photographing couples in places that feel a little unexpected because it allows everyone to relax and just be present.
This engagement session was the perfect mix of adventurous and simple, and honestly, one of my favorite locations to shoot at. I already know their wedding day is going to be just as beautiful and meaningful as this session was. I cannot wait to capture the next chapter for these two.
