Make your timeline work for you
Your wedding day goes by faster than you can imagine. One minute you’re getting ready, and the next you’re on the dance floor, wondering where the day went. That’s why one of the best things you can do while planning is create a timeline that gives you intentional time together. Instead of packing every minute with events, build in moments where the two of you can simply slow down, breathe, and enjoy being together.

Consider a first look
A first look isn’t the right choice for every couple. It can be a wonderful way to spend extra time together. You’ll have a quiet moment before the excitement of the ceremony begins, allowing you to hug, laugh, cry, and soak it all in without hundreds of eyes watching. It also opens up more flexibility in your timeline! This often means you can spend more of cocktail hour together or enjoy a more relaxed evening with your guests.!
Sneak away for a few quiet moments
Some of my favorite photos happen when couples step away from the celebration for just ten or fifteen minutes. Whether it’s during golden hour, after dinner, or right before the dance floor fills up, these little breaks give you a chance to reconnect. You’ll have a moment to ask each other how you’re feeling, talk about your favorite part of the day so far, and simply enjoy the fact that you’re finally married.

Share the little moments together
Not every memory has to be a big one. Walk into your reception together. Grab a drink and take it all in before everyone joins you. Sit together while you eat dinner whenever possible. Even small choices like riding to your ceremony together or sharing a private last dance at the end of the night can make your wedding day feel even more meaningful. Those little moments often become some of the ones you’ll treasure most.
Remember what the day is really about
It’s easy to get caught up in the schedule, the decorations, and making sure everything goes according to plan. But at the end of the day, your wedding is about the two of you. The flowers will eventually fade, the cake will be eaten, and the music will end, but the memories you create together will last forever. Give yourselves permission to slow down, hold hands a little longer, steal a few extra hugs, and truly be present with one another. Those are the moments you’ll carry with you long after the wedding day is over.
