Some weddings just feel like a reflection of the couple from start to finish, and that was definitely true for Harrison and Emily’s wedding at The Oaks at Plum Creek in Castle Rock, Colorado.
Nothing about their day felt overcomplicated. They planned a celebration that let them spend time with the people they love most, enjoy each part of the day, and actually be present for it all. As a photographer, those are always some of my favorite weddings to document because everyone is focused on what really matters.
The Oaks at Plum Creek was such a beautiful place for their wedding. The property has so many great spots for portraits, which meant we never had to rush from one location to another. We could simply move through the day naturally while making the most of everything the venue had to offer!
One detail I couldn’t get over was their cake topper. Instead of something traditional, they included a little golden retriever, which felt like such a sweet way to bring a piece of their everyday life into the celebration. It’s those little decisions that make a wedding feel personal!!
My favorite photos from the day ended up being some of the simplest ones. Harrison making Emily laugh during portraits. Friends filling the dance floor. Family celebrating together. Those are the moments that always end up meaning the most years later.
One thing I always tell my couples is that your wedding doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Harrison and Emily planned a day that fit them, and because of that, every part of it felt genuine.
Harrison and Emily, thank you for trusting me to be part of such an exciting season. It was such a privilege getting to celebrate alongside you and document the beginning of your marriage. I can’t wait for you to look back on these photos for years to come.
